Once the school has received the completed registration form and fees, you are enrolled in the upcoming course. A course outline and textbooks will be handed out at the first session. The State exam has two sections; the general real estate principles and practices and the State Law section, which covers specific Hawaii statutes. The exam is in the form of multiple-choice questions only. The class content will include, but is not limited to, the following subjects to prepare the candidate to successfully pass the State exam: landlord tenant code, real estate property management and leasing, fair housing, ethics and real estate regulations, real property and personal property, forms of ownership, forms of land interest, financing, real estate taxes, escrow, closing and settlement charges, the Purchase Contract, contract law, building department requirements, land use ordinance information, agency types and disclosures and material facts.
Hawaii Licensing Requirements
Each individual must be a U.S. citizen or have a U.S. work permit, be at least 18 years of age, attend and pass an accredited real estate licensing school and pass the State licensing exam. The written application and required fees must be made. Once a license has been obtained, it must be affiliated with a brokerage company and all real estate activities must be made under the supervision of the firm's Principal Broker. Otherwise, the license must be applied for and placed on an inactive status. Candidates who successfully pass the State exam must apply for their license status within two years from the exam date or their test results will become invalid and taking and passing the exam again will be required. Students will submit their State exam applications, registration forms and fees directly to Prommisor. The school will provide the forms and information on registering for the State exam.
Course Requirements
The State requires sales candidates to attend 60 hours of classroom time and obtain a 70% score on the final exam. Broker candidates are required to attend 80 hours of classroom time and obtain 75% on the final class exam. After completing the above a candidate will receive a Certificate of Successful Completion. Obtaining the Certificate of Successful Completion is a prerequisite for taking the State Licensing examination. The completion certificate from Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties Real Estate School is valid for a two-year period and the candidate may take the State exam anytime during the two-year period.
Tuition, Refunds and Withdrawals
The tuition for the Sales course is $523.56. The tuition for the Broker Candidate course is $1020.94. These fees include tuition, books, GET tax and processing fee. If written notice is received prior to the beginning of the first scheduled class, a full refund of tuition and textbooks fees will be made within 3 to 5 weeks from receipt of written notice.
The school reserves the right to ask any student to withdraw for misconduct, unsatisfactory progress or unethical conduct.
After the Exam
Career counseling will be available to students, upon request. Candidates are not obligated to join any firm after receiving their license. Each firm has its own independent policies.
